We thank our families for your continued support and patience during this trying time. We are currently planning and restructuring this page to give the best distance learning support and educational lessons to meet the needs of our students. Please check daily for new additions and eventually by next week, we will have the site open to be structured similar how we run a traditional Montessori classroom. We are extremely grateful to all our teachers who have been working this week on planning lessons, so we may share it to all our families. For our elementary and kindergarten students, please continue to work on your packets. We are in this together, and we will work together as a community and to support one another.
MONTESSORI PRACTICAL LIFE ACTIVITIES TO DO AT HOME
SILENCE GAME
This is a great activity that can be done indoors or outdoors. Sit with your child. Turn off any tv or music. In a soft or whispering voice, tell your child that you will be playing a special game called the silence game. You will be listening to noises around you. Hold your hand to your ear and show your child that you are listening. The more expressive you are, the more they will engage and be curious. Listen to the birds, people talking, the light, the cars passing by, etc... Children are often bombarded by too much sound coming from tv or media devices. To teach children how to calm themselves and learn to appreciate silence, this is a great activity to do.
This game can also be extended to things in our environment. Have your young child name things that they see and listen to the sound it makes.
